Eco-Warriors

| We destroyed the Necroplasm in less than a minute. |
Eco Warrior involves traveling to Ordelle's Caves and fighting a monster inside. To lure it out, the sentry slathers an ointment on your body which temporarily lowers your level to 20. The reward for completion is 5,000 gil and 500-1,000 experience points. It's not uncommon to walk through a city's marketplace and hear someone recruiting players to join the quest.
The monster is so strong a normal 6-player party couldn't do it. Three parties can form an alliance of 18, so the call went out for everyone who wanted to participate to assemble in front of the tavern in San D'oria at 9 p.m. An active linkshell is like having a little chat room going on at the bottom of your screen all the time, and suddenly having most of us in one place at the same time was great.
The other players trying to assemble a team for the Eco Warrior quest were not amused that we were horning in on their turf. Fuck 'em. I don't care how long they'd been planning it or how much they'd paid to travel to San D'oria; we got our shit together first. Spirit of Legends members were in a "Don't mess with us" mood, and we quickly formed our teams, rented chocobos, and set out for the caves.
The mission is timed, and we only had an hour to get from the entrance of the cave to the monster. It's not that bad, except there are bats, Blood Bunnies, goblins and assorted nasties standing between us and the goal. A few of our players stayed outside the party and at their high levels so they could clear the path.
The monster, a hideous blob called Necroplasm, appeared and started slurping and sliding its way through us while we unloaded on it with everything we had. I stood with the other nukers as we started roasting it. Our healers pumped out Cure spell after Cure spell. The melees hacked at it. The lifebar quickly dropped and the monster lay dead at our feet.
It was so much fun we're going to make it a regular event. This is the sort of thing which makes the linkshell feel more like a real community.
