Semi-Gimp

I'm
Final Fantasy XI - Monk
I'm enjoying the Anniversary Ring while I can.
not one of your major-league elitists who'll refuse to level a job unless they have a specific piece of gear, but I'm elitist enough to feel guilty about it most of the time. I didn't let to stop me from seeking today because I really just wanted to knock some of the dust off my knuckles and get back into the leveling groove.

A Black Mage invited me to join his party in Bibiki Bay. I rode out and settled in for a nice evening of punching the daylights out of birds. The party setup was PLD, BLM, WHM, MNK, THF, RNG, and we were doing great. I'm loving the Anniversary Ring I got from the event moogle; I was getting anywhere from 300-500xp per kill depending on where it fell in the chain. I used three charges and my Empress Band while I was there.

My Hand-to-Hand skill was gimped as hell from doing two levels via ENM. It seemed to take forever to get caught up and learn Howling Fist. The Thief eventually left and was replaced by a Warrior; the two of us teamed up for Distortion so the BLM could burst Freeze. We also lost our Ranger and replaced him with a Blue Mage.

The big problem was links. We had a BLM to sleep them, but we still managed to wipe a few times. The first time was funny because a team of RMT was camping beside us and some of my party was laughing at them as they were dying to a bird link, and then we ended up being corpses right beside them.

I'd
Final Fantasy XI - Monk
I have better gear than the galka! Hooray!
really only wanted to get a little xp, but I managed to do 25k and ding 62 with a decent buffer before I took off. We'd lost our Warrior and replaced him with a galka monk; I was wary of being outdamaged, but it turns out my gear was better. The xp slowed down a bit without my Distortion partner, and we eventually disbanded.

I was going to log out, but Neyla requested my presence at a Dark Spark fight for Jahar. Neyla and Nanunanoo had taken her out to Beadeaux to farm up a coffer key while I was punching things. The quadav weren't stingy this time, so they got it pretty fast.

I've been looking over the gear lists for Monk. I'm going to focus on getting some Pallas Bracelets, Tiphia Sting and Sniper Ring.

Turned Loose

The
Final Fantasy XI - Besieged
I'm Zazarg's bitch.
lack of any real goal has been a killer. I log on, do a Besieged when I see one is in the works, and do a little fishing to pay for my Limbus runs. It's been yawn-worthy, and I'm not on for more than an hour or two before I quit and do something else.

That's turning around, though. Neyla decided against doing a static with his Bard and my Monk, and I can't complain because I wasn't as enthusiastic about that particular team-up. He's not wild about pickup parties, but I don't mind them too much. I have to figure out what gear I need and start fishing my ass off to buy it. Focus is a wonderful thing.

In other news, Quieren didn't make today's Limbus run. I "sorta" led the thing with Achates; I can put the alliance together and make some of the calls, but I have no freakin' clue when it comes to navigating the zones. We killed elementals and popped a few chests with Mystic Avatars inside. It went well.

Level Up

Quieren
Final Fantasy XI - Limbus
Mossback unloads on Raesvelg. Icky.
surprised me by showing up for Limbus today. He'd called and said he didn't think he'd make it. It's harder and harder for him to drag himself to Vana'diel when he'd rather be playing World of Warcraft, and he'll be quitting for good after we finish the current batch of Ultima/Omega fights.

We had a good run today, too. The only death was Gregedor's -- not unusual because he dies a few times every run -- and it wasn't even against the dragon. Everyone got four Ancient Beastcoins and several upgrade items dropped. I'm keeping my coins for now for a possible Healer's Cap upgrade. After that, I'll probably start selling them off.

I dinged 61 on Monk during the "Test Your Mite" ENM. I can finally equip my Amemet Mantle +1. Neyla asked Ghaleon if he'd be interested in an xp static with us, but he couldn't commit; Neyla plans to start a recruitment thread at QCDN this week. We'll see how it goes.

In other news, RedGirl's strength and endurance are at Impressive levels. I have about ten days to max her out to First-Class, which shouldn't be too difficult.
