Stupid Ghost

Once
Final Fantasy XI - Besieged
This ghost refuses to die.
again, I canceled the Limbus run because of low numbers. We only had six this time, which would be enough to farm an easy zone for coins if I was actually in the mood to lead that and we had the right combination of jobs.

It was the only reason I logged on, and I probably would've logged back out again except that Besieged was brewing. I changed over to Monk and hit Al Zahbi to wait for it with Neyla and some others.

The beastmen armies are finally starting to get back to full strength after the recovery of the Astral Candescence, but we fought them off. One of the ghosts we fought was on steroids and refused to be brought down for nearly ten minutes. It was very annoying.

Adventures in the Forbidden Zone

I
Final Fantasy XI - Monk
The Morbal Menace is a new one for me.
didn't spend much time online Monday, but it was quality time in the tree. Neyla and I went there and finished unlocking my Destroyers. It's great to have that kind of firepower available; I had them equipped before Sunday's ENM for the invariable slaughter of goblins, gigas and tigers while waiting for people to show up at the outpost, but I quickly removed them when I realized the Boreas Cesti were doing more damage.

The only real surprise from the trip was stumbling across the Morbol Menace mobs in the room with all the white mandies. In all the time I've been to that zone, I'd never seen them. Needless to say, Neyla killed both of them. He used a string of white mandies for the first and then grabbed a Korrigan from upstairs for the second. Guess which fight took the least amount of time?

Today was an actual adventure. Neyla's been getting requests for the two staging points we didn't have, so we decided it would be a good day to run out to Arappago Reef and try to find them. We found a decent walk-through online and headed out.

I truly dislike crossing Caedarva Mire and the reef because of the True Sight monsters. Put me in a zone where I can sneak and invis my way around, and I'm happy. Take that away, and I get all clammy with the fear of discovery. The constant threat of Chigoe attack doesn't help my mood.

turned out okay, though. I had to have Neyla lead the way in a few places because my monitor was too dark and I couldn't detect some of the paths, but it wasn't too bad. I was overjoyed to find leeches near the Illrusi Atoll Staging Point; we charmed them and made short work of the imps lurking near the gate.

I felt like Bilbo Baggins returing to the Shire when we'd finished. That's quite enough adventure for one day!

Smooth as Silk

Today's
Final Fantasy XI - Limbus
Carbuncle was only able to kill our tank.
swing through the second floor of Temenos Central was a thing of beauty. We had seventeen people and pulled off the entire run in about fifteen minutes, I think. We knocked out the elementals and fought Ifrit before taking on Carbuncle, whose Searing Light attack killed our main tank. We have an "Astral Flow team" who holds back until it goes off so they can run in to take over as needed, and we finished the electric squirrel off in no time.

The "Test Your Mite" ENM was a little more dubious, as there were only four of us this week. Thankfully, it was the same four who'd beaten Pasuk before when we were short on members. We were getting short on time and I managed to draw hate every so often -- made even more delicious by Cmdrfly's refusal to Haste me for that very reason -- and got a second Woodsman Ring in a row and a Geist Earring.
