Chocobo Nuggets

I've
Final Fantasy XI - Chocobo
I finally got around to retiring my chocobo.
had some nagging guilt about my latest chocobo, since I'd basically stopped caring for it awhile back when I realized it was female when what I needed was a red male to complete a breeding pair. I'd forgotten to actually send it off to the nugget ranch, which is why I ended up spamming my way through truncated reports to find out just how long it had been since I'd interacted with the bird. It turned out I'd neglected it for 59 days. I'm surprised the thing didn't run away.

I was amused to see the Red VCS Plaque had the bird's name on it. My first batch of plaques were blank in that regard, although the green one was similarly named. That's one of those minor game tweaks I never noticed.

Other than that, Neyla and I spent our time in Boyahda Tree for more skillups. He's not getting much out of this except limit points and XP for Yawawa, but I think he's mostly just happy to being doing Beastmaster-related stuff. I'm going to have to gear mine up at some point so we can do some serious meriting in Bibiki Bay.

My polearm skill was at 245 when we finished, which is still gimpy but not too shabby. Neyla was mostly listening to covers of 80s music and typing song lyrics. Naturally, I had to tease him about Duran Duran; it's been a running joke ever since Vic Mackey made fun of Dutchboy on The Shield.

On the Cusp of Aquarius

When
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
We live in Boyahda Tree these days.
we hit Boyahda Tree for more polearm skillups, Neyla told me to wait in one of the side tunnels so he could "do his Beastmaster duty" and kill Aquarius. I don't know that I'd call it a duty -- I've always been content to cast Sneak and run past the guy even when I'm on BST -- but it's certainly entertaining. He ran upstairs to grab a Korrigan and brought it down to start the fight. I'm not sure how many pets he threw at the crab, but he brought it down while I relaxed. He'd killed it solo before, so he let me lot the axe; I tossed it later since the stats didn't impress me. I liked the 9k gil reward more.

My polemarm skill was 237 when we started, far from the 256 level cap I needed. We burned off an Empress Band charge, and my NPC Gauldeval finally dinged 67. When we'd finished, I hit Port Jeuno to catch the four black sole I needed to complete a stack I started Sunday.

Let the Korrigan Tank

I
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
Neyla and I get more skillups in Boyahda Tree.
spent a lot of time in Vana'diel today. I started out on Dragoon, burning off my campaign ops with several rounds of Crimson Domino III. I flagged the escort and avatar fights, then hit Port Jeuno to fish while I waited for Dalamar and Neyla to log on. I managed to get a .1 fishing skillup, bringing me to 93.9. So close!

Dalamar never logged on for Dynamis or our usual Sunday activities. Neyla said he might've been having computer problems. We did the escort without him and then went to Boyahda Tree for more skillups.

Neyla was Beastmaster, using Korrigans to tank Elder Goobues and Steelshells for us. We called our NPCs, and Yawawa dinged 67 while we were there. Gauldeval got close, but he was lagging behind because I didn't call him when we were in the big group the other day.
