I AM MIGHTY!

The
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
Resting my heels in the Crawler's Nest really inspires awe.
major downside of a melee leveling binge is that I tend to seek a few hours, get bored, and log out with nothing to show for it. I gave up and did a Besieged on Tuesday, but mostly it's just been a matter of parking my ass in my moghouse with my flag up.

I was thrilled to get an invitation today, although it was interrupting my Heroes marathon. I wasn't so thrilled when I got to the Crawler's Nest and the newly-formed party was scuttled because "something came up" and the White Mage suddenly had to leave before getting out of Jeuno. I waited around a bit in hopes of seeing another healer popped up, but it didn't work out.

I logged out and watched more Heroes. /sigh

Under Observation

I wasn't familiar with the BCNM "Under Observation," but Neyla had read about it and said my main job would be kiting one of the three Hecteyes by using a jug pet.

"I've never really kited anything before," I said, "but I'm pretty good at running away."

Our
Final Fantasy XI - Under Observation
Crookedmidget and I kill the Sobbing Eyes.
setup had Crookedmidget as Ninja, Neyla as Red Mage, and myself as Beastmaster. The strategy was for us to go in and buff up. Then we'd run to the arena, where Neyla would Gravity the Sobbing Eyes NM and kite it along the main path. Crookedmidget would immediately start killing the Compound Eyes on the right, while I grabbed the one on the left and kited it until Crook was finished his. Then I'd drag mine back so we could work together. When mine was dead, we'd go after the big guy. I used my TP to stun the Firaga spell whenver I could.

The first run was a little rough -- I didn't get my prey out of the arena fast enough and it used Bindga and Breakga -- but we managed. My pet died and I had to run around like crazy waiting for the timer to count down so I could summon a new one. The kite path is very long, so there was little chance of the monsters actually hitting me. That was the only two-jug fight of the evening, since I did a much better job on the subsequent battles.

We did nine runs, and Crookedmidget got his Peacock Charm. He's a very lucky taru, since my orbs and Neyla's gave nothing spectacular and he got the PCC and two Ni scrolls. It was a lot of fun, but I'm definitely going the "sell everything and split the gil" route next time. I died on my second orb, although we still won. The only loss happened because Crook died and we had to run for the exit.

Our total haul: Peacock Charm x1, Behourd Lance x2, Buzzard Tuck x1, De Saintre's Axe x2, Raifu x2, Tourney Patas x2, Grudge Sword x1, Scroll of Utsusemi: Ni x2, Scroll of Phalanx x2, Scroll of Refresh x1, Scroll of Absorb-STR x2, Scroll of Ice Spikes x1, Mantra Belt x4, Tilt Belt x2, Peridot x1, Pearl x2, Hecteyes Eye x8, Vial of Mercury x8, Gold Beastcoin x3, Garnet x1, Goshenite x1.

New Venue

I
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
This is the only action I'm getting.
have a feeling that getting a party invitation is going to be a freakin' nightmare for awhile, but at least now I have the ENM to fall back on. Today was my first "Test Your Mite" as Dragoon, which is also the job Wulfgar brings each week. His Wuffi and my Oboro look funny flapping around the diremite.

Most of the goblins and tigers at the outpost are Easy and Decent targets, but the Ahrimans are still Tough. It'll be a few levels before I can kill time before the fight by doing some fishing at the pond without getting aggro.
