Return of the Bad White Mage

I tried to get a party yesterday on Monk and failed, so I logged out to play more Pokemon and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

went seeking again today and was almost ready to give up when I got lucky. The leader wanted to hit Bibiki Bay. We didn't have a refresher, but we had a White Mage, Paladin and Ninja. Two tanks could be considered wasteful, but it worked out okay because the Ninja focused on being a damage dealer and would take over as tank when the Paladin needed to rest. We only had five people but decided to go kill things while the leader kept looking for a sixth and eventually got a Bard.

The White Mage was the same waste of space Cure-bot from last week's adventures on Mount Zhayolm, although I didn't realize it at the time. She never caught a single status ailment on her own -- dhalmels only have two moves a White Mage has to worry about -- and had her Dark Staff equipped while casting her Cure spells. It wouldn't be so bad, but she got really defensive and belligerent when the Bard and I tried to give her advice. She dismissed our comments by saying she wasn't going to do anything until the evil Bard stopped pulling like a maniac when she didn't have MP. There's not much you can do to fight that kind of warped logic except throw up your hands and chug along.

Speaking of, the Bard was running rings around her as healer. He realized quickly how bad she was and started taking care of every Silence and Defense Down move on his own. I sent a /tell asking if he had White Mage to 75, but he said he'd only taken it to 35 so far. I was even more impressed by that.

"You're catching everything faster than our idiot White Mage," I said.

"I call the process 'reading,'" he said.

It wasn't a great party, but I'll be halfway to 68 after the ENM and escort Sunday.

AoE Hell

Have I mentioned how much I dislike Apollyon SE?

had twelve people for Limbus today, and that was the last zone we needed for an Omega set. I was the only White Mage, and I told them not to expect any miracles from me because that zone has nasty AoE attacks. The first floor's slimes are fond of Fluid Spread, and the third floor has skeletons that spam Blood Saber and drain the melees like a juice pouch. We won with minimal death, but my nerves were a little frayed by the end. That's the kind of experience that reminds me why I love White Mage; I have it too soft most of the time.

Back-to-back Lv. 7 Besieged events were in the works while I was doing the run. The lamias were just finishing up as I was getting my coins, and I hurried out there to join Neyla, Veresko and some others. I arrived just in time to see one army leave and the Mamool Ja enter. I babysat Zazarg for most of it.

Fame

Today was pretty much wasted. One of the newbies at QCDN asked for help with Titan Prime and we volunteered to kill it. The girl was a Red Mage in the lower 30s, so she just had to stay out of our way.

Yep, this is my day. Waiting around.
did a little fishing and played Hot and Cold before running to Bastok to flag the fight with Neyla. The RDM had to walk her dog or something, so we decided to wait there until she got back. It turned out she didn't actually have enough fame to get the fight, and was getting ready to head to Selbina with some moss for the quest, but she didn't have enough.

I didn't have a lot of time to seek on Monk after that, so I was a little annoyed. You can't get too angry at lowbies who don't know any better, but I'll make sure she has the tuning fork before I put my plans on hold the next time.

Not much beyond that, unless you count listening to members of the linkshell debate whether "pop" or "soda" is the better generic term or having Jahar talk about how boring fishing is.

"Maybe," I told her, "but that 100k an hour makes up for it."

"Man, I should take up fishing," Nanunanoo said.

This... Is... EINHERJAR!

I logged on for a short time Friday but was too burned out from all the Monk leveling to stay on. Then I popped on Saturday morning and found out my "green" chocobo wasn't actually green. It was yellow, and thus was instantly retired.

I'd promised Quieren on Wednesday that I'd help him build up his Paladin's XP buffer, but I slept right through the time he wanted to go this morning. I wasn't the only person who ditched on him. He said else nobody came. Oops. A weekday would be better, but good luck dragging him out of World of Warcraft.

We lost the ENM this week. Wulfgar went AFK in the glacier and we'd already made it to the Shrouded Maw by the time he came back. He died on the way -- I'm not going to ask why he didn't use oils -- and homepointed in aggravation. Hadafal is moving and won't be around for awhile, so the four of us tried it and got killed.

This feels a lot like Dynamis.
took off immediately to head for Nashmau and my first attempt at Einherjar. I thought Neyla was going to come along and give it a shot, but he'd lost all interest in it. Cmdrfly asked me to come White Mage since they were lacking those. I found myself in the tank party.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Einherjar, but it basically felt like a really bad Dynamis pull. The chamber had a huge swarm of bats in it, but the BLMs blew their wads using Elemental Seal and Sleepgas at the same time. Crowd control was a bit of an issue.

A tiger mob spawned and we immediately shifted focus from the bats to take it out. The battles are still new, but it's believed that mob is the "Achilles Heel" to the boss, and it has to be killed quickly because it will despawn. The bats started waking up and wiped us, but we got back up and recovered. We started in on the Morbol Emperor boss and ran out of time. It's still a learning experience, and the BLMs realize they need a sleeping order to keep everything under control. It was fun, and I could easily get into it.

Unfortunately, I really have no reason to go back. The Shura pieces I want from Sky don't drop there, and I really can't get worked up over the Adaman stuff for my Beastmaster job. As nifty as it would be to have, none of my BST activities require it.
