Neyla's Guest Entry: Rank 7

So basically here is the rundown...

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening myself, Halifirien, Twille, Tiael, Lolindor and a friend of Twille's named Raleia all gathered together at the burning circle in Giddeus. We tried to piece together some sort of basic strategy, but we knew it was going to be rough, especially with a mage heavy setup (PLD - RDM - RDM - BLM - BLM - WHM) and all the mobs sporting the 2hr abilities of their respective jobs (NIN - WHM - SAM - SMN).

Upon entering the burning circle Halifirien DCs and the rest of us start freaking out a bit, until I'm able to /tell him again and reivite him so he can enter and join us. After that things just got chaotic, with the RDMs and BLMs sleeping mobs and Twille starting on the WHM. With no Sleepga II available, things keep waking up and the RDMs are spamming sleep spells. Most of my MP throughout the whole event didn't go to Refreshing or enfeebling, but rather Sleepga.

The WHM yagudo dies in spite of his Benediction. Next we take out the SAM, with Halifirien curing, BLMs nuking, and RDMs sleeping. The major thorn in my side is the SMNs elemental friend (earth), who keeps trying to cast Quake on me. In time the SAM yag dies and Twille moves on to pissing off the NIN. Everyone is on top of each other, yags and players alike when the NIN hits Mijin Gakure and everything seems to shake. Halifirien, Lolindor and Raleia (and maybe Tiael) all drop dead, which makes it the first time I've seen that trick actually kill anything.

Final Fantasy XI - Yagudo NM.
The yagudo at the top of Castle Oztroja gives us a reward.
Halifirien reraises and casts Reraise II on himself and a regen spell on Twille, leaving himself still in the red. The SMN yags elemental friend wakes up and casts a high Stonega spell on us. Halifirien drops dead yet again. The NIN, who gets back up in spite of his suicide move, eventually dies and Twille turns to the SMN.

People have been reraising through this. At this point Twille and I are the only ones who have lived through the whole thing. (I believe the Stonega also took out Tiael.) At some point Lolindor dies in his weakened state when a yag did one of their sweeping moves.

The SMN yag hits Astral Flow and the ground seems to explode all around us. Halifirien and the others who died and reraised all die yet again. Twille is banged
up and I think I have around 150 hitpoints left, with the damn element still sleeping next to me. But everyone is laughing and having an amazing time with the situation. Halifirien and Raliea, I believe, are standing again when the SMN dies. Everyone gets credit for the victory.

After that, and some Raise 2s for those still dead, things were simple in Castle Oztrojah, aside from my dying while opening a door for the others so we can type in the passwords of the day and get to the area where the High Priest hangs out with his posse of yes-men. Tractor - Raise 2 - move on. Lolindor also gets credit for the Castle O. section of G2 before we open another door and finish the mission out.

Dragoons

My goal is to turn in at least 100 moat carp a day until my Lu Shang quest is over (I'm up to 8,941). I went after Bastore Bream, Nebimonites and Shall Shells to fund that effort today. The Sea Serpent Grotto made for a fun diversion, but it won't really be profitable until I can use the Lu Shang to haul in Grimmonites and other assorted goodies.

Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon Wyvern Fight.
Halifirien, Moriki and Bender fight the wyvern.
I took a break to go to Quifum Island because Neyla wanted to help Moriki, a tarutaru Red Mage, find a Carbuncle's Ruby to unlock Summoner. We killed a lot of acrophies before we decided to go to Shakhrami to hit the numerous leeches there.

We got Moriki's ruby and a wyvern egg for the Dragoon job quest. I raised a guy named Bender who had been killed by bats while trying to get an egg of his own. We decided the three of us should work together for our Dragoon jobs. I scrambled to start the quest and catch up, and the four of us went into Ghelspa Outpost to fight the wyvern to complete the quest. Neyla hung back and didn't get involved, which was fine.

I can now become a Dragoon and summon a small wyvern to fight at my side. I chose "Oboro" from the list of available names.

No Rest for the Wicked

I went for an experience points party in Gustav Tunnel last night, and it sucked pretty bad. Most of the party had broken up and they were in the "rebuilding" phase. When I got there I saw they already had a White Mage (Zurinisei, whom I know from QCDN). When I asked the leader, he said she was the replacement one of the other members got. I was too amused to leave right away, which was my first mistake. That party didn't last long.

I went back this morning and ended up in a party with Exsoldier as Paladin. He had just purchased a Curaga earring and told me and the Summoner to let him use it if a goblin dropped a bomb and we were all "near death." I told him he could use the earring any time he wanted, but that I wasn't going to let anybody get that low. Every encounter I've ever had with Exsoldier has led me to think "asshat," and this wasn't much better. I would've been much happier if he'd never mentioned the burning sensation when he pees. I got about 6,000 xp from that party before I logged off for awhile.

When I came back on to do a little fishing, I found out the Wandering Souls linkshell was changing its name to Wicked Wayz. I met Veresko in Bastok for a new pearl.

Dagry sent me a /tell asking if I could come to Kuftal Tunnel and teleport the Black Mage who'd gone afk from his skillup party. I traveled out there, but the BLM came back just as I was entering the zone. Dagry apologized and said he'd buy me a stack of moat carp (which I later found in my delivery box).

Final Fantasy XI - Weeper.
Halifirien and Feriz fight a Weeper.
Feriz finally logged on, and we decided to run around and kill time until his RSE time rolled around. He'd never been inside the Promyvion zones, so that's where we went. We killed dozens of Wanderers and a few Weepers to farm anima until we finally got bored enough to leave. He logged out for a bit, and I fished.

While Feriz was gone, one of the Red Mages in our linkshell said Wyvernpoacher Drachlox was on the move in Gustav Tunnel. It's a Notorious Monster goblin who drops the best crossbow in the game, and Rangers salivate over it. Veresko wanted it pretty bad, and Maly's party said they'd help him get it. Veresko, Fantomas and I rushed out there to join them.

Fantomas managed to pull the Wyvernpoacher and three other goblins. It was a complete clusterfuck. Maly had to Chainspell+Escape her party, and the three of us died. I had Reraise up, got us back on our feet, and we did it again the right way. The goblin died and Veresko got his Othinus Bow. He needs two more levels before he can use it. I was happy to have payback against the goblin.

Feriz came back shortly after, so we went to Ordelle's Caves and scoured the place until we found a treasure chest. Some mithra Samurai named Seras was sitting on it; I don't know if she was trying to hide it or was saving it for someone with a key, but I told Feriz to use his key to pop it open. He got the magical pattern inside and flew off to Jeuno to get his Custom Slacks with their 32 MP and +3 MND bonuses.
