Spirit Taker

No
Final Fantasy XI - Skillup Party
Neyla turns the Steelshell into a magical juice box.
Campaigns today, since Neyla wanted to do some staff skillups in Boyahda Tree to learn Spirit Taker. It's a handy move that converts TP into MP. A lot of Campaign battles have stretches where he can whack at a fortification awhile and use Spirit Taker while waiting for the recast timer on Chivalry to wear down, or he can attack local wildlife between waves of enemies.

I mostly went along to tank the Steelshells and try for a few Guard skillups. I didn't get a lot of those, but I managed to cap my Evasion in the process. Neyla had tried fighting the crabs on his own, but it's a very looooong process of whittling away at the enemy without my tarutaru fists of fury doing damage.

Poring tracked us down as Black Mage and joined us awhile, capping off Dark Magic skill to prepare for his next attempt at Maat. We were camped near the big waterfall, and I was convinced Poring would get elemental aggro a few times, but he got lucky with the weather because there wasn't a single elemental pop the entire time we were there.

Weak in Review

It's
Final Fantasy XI - Campaign
Sauromugue Champaign is relatively new to us as a Campaign battlefield.
been a semi-entertaining week in Vana'diel, mostly revolving around (what else?) Campaign battles. I used the merit points I earned to raise my Invigorate to Lv. 2, which will give me additional HP regen when I use Chakra. It's very handy, since I used Chakra a lot while tanking mobs.

I even went so far as to finally use the Limbus items that have been gathering dust in my moghouse since I left Big Kahunas. I used them to upgrade my Monk body piece to a Temple Cyclas +1, since it enhances Chakra by making the effect stronger and causes it to remove paralysis. It has higher DEF and gives STR and VIT bonuses, so I'm going to test it out next week and see if it'll replace my Scorpion Harness.

Otherwise, a largely uneventful week. I dusted off Puppetmaster for a few Campaign Ops, setting off bombs at the tower in West Sarutabaruta [S] and killing a few mobs to finish off the level. I'm not sure I want to keep going with the job, although it was entertaining when Neyla partied up with a Puppetmaster for some Campaign fights and the automaton used Cure V on me a few times. I could get used to that!

I had a brief moment of nobility the other day when I tried to save a Summoner named Ferque from raffelasia aggro in Fort Karugo-Narugo. I used Chi Blast to get its attention, but I didn't generate enough hate. It took one swipe at me and then finished killing the Summoner first. Ah, well.
