NM Hell

Neyla
Final Fantasy XI - Campaign
We fought yagudo in Sauromugue today.
got a head start on me yesterday since I decided to hit Jeuno and fish up a stack of Black Sole before doing Campaign battles. They sell for a pittance compared to how much they used to bring in, but I can't really complain when my main source of income these days is avatar battles. At least the fish sell reasonably fast.

We teamed up with Dalamar for awhile since he was leveling Summoner. During one of the battles in Meriphitaud, I jumped into battle with a group who was killing a yagudo and ended up tanking most of the fight because the taru paladin was subbing Dancer and couldn't hold hate off me. Neyla teased me this morning at work, asking me if I was going to be joining them for Campaign or go off with another group again. I was amused he remembered that one fight out of however many we did.

Today was a bit more suckish, though. We did a few battles and I finished off a fifth merit point to cap out my Counter rate on Monk. Unfortunately, it seemed liked most of the battles we hit were swarmed with NMs who just wanted to prolong our agony and keep us from earning limit points.

Instead of putting up with that, Neyla suggesting hitting Vunkerl to work on his polearm skill. I switched over to Dragoon for that. My polearm skill is gimped, but it's still too high for those mobs to be effective for skillups. I just wanted the experience points, so we popped our Empress Bands and burned off the charge. With the campaign ops I've built up, I'll ding 71 by Sunday.

The Old Switcheroo

Dalamar
Final Fantasy XI - Titan Prime
Neyla tanks Titan Prime at the start of battle.
was in Dynamis-Jeuno when I logged on today. I'd been playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night all morning and was going to keep at it until time for the usual Sunday escort and avatars. Thankfully, I remembered I had an entire slate of Campaign Op credits to burn off, so I switched over to Dragoon and used them all on Crimson Domino. I hit Jeuno after that to sell some Black Sole and to catch a few more while I waited.

My cohorts reversed jobs this week, with Neyla on Paladin and Dalmar on Red Mage this time. It certainly made for a more vigorous battle against Shiva, although I think a lot of that could be attributed to Dalamar forgetting to change his subjob and being unable to cast Barblizzara. Diamond Dust was decidedly unpleasant. He also was unable to teleport us out of Fei'yin, which wasn't really an issue for me because I always carry a Return Ring and the region was under our control. Those poor saps had to walk back to the outpost.

The Titan and Ramuh fights were much easier, to say the least.

Neyla set a new meriting goal for himself. He's going to unlock and beef up some of those Tier II spells for his Red Mage. I can't complain, since it means he'll be there to do Campaigns while I'm working on Strength.
