Change I Can Believe In

I
Final Fantasy XI - Beastmasters
It feels good to be in Bibiki Bay awhile.
wanted a change of pace, and I got it. Yesterday Neyla and I doubled up and used two Empress Band and pearl charges in Bibiki Bay as Beastmasters. It felt good to be back on that job, although I was still a little rusty and took a little time to get used to the pulling groove. I pull the two dhalmels to the north and Neyla grabs two to the south, and there's a specific rotation of bunnies we charm that keeps us going nearly non-stop; after the first chain it was like second nature again.

We finished yesterday's session by doing the escort, and this time there were no connection issues.

We returned to Bibiki Bay today for two more NPC sessions. Yawawa and Gauldeval dinged 69, so one or two sessions should cap them. It'll also give me a fifth merit point so I can raise my Strength again.

In other news, Neyla finally did the last batch of Gobbiebag quests, since they're adding new ones in the next update. I'm looking forward to that, since Beastmaster is the one job where I carry a ton of gear.

More of the Same

As
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
The Steelshells can't get a break.
much as I love getting XP and polearm skillups on my Dragoon, I'm starting to tire of the tree a little bit. We were back there today, fighting Steelshells and gabbing about music and Neyla's mood. I'm slowly but surely clawing my way to 73.

I can't complain too much, since Neyla does all the pulling and the only thing I have to do in these sessions is fight and rest. The conversation made for a nice change of pace, since mostly we're like a well-oiled machine and have to keep ourselves occupied. For example, I've been watching Smallville episodes while we fight. I'm almost finished with the second season.

Old Haunts

My
Final Fantasy XI - Beastmasters
Neyla and I fight a Wanderer in Promyvian-Mea.
Internet connection has had a few wonky moments this week, but I'd been online a few hours to do my campaign ops and do some fishing in Port Jeuno without any problems. It decided to give me trouble during the escort, kicking me off repeatedly. Neyla sent the NPC off to her death and returned to Jeuno. We went back to the tree, and of course my connection was stable the entire time. We'll try the escort again later this week.

Gauldeval hit 68 while we were killing goobues and crabs, and I decided to get a Tactics Pearl since we tend to stay longer than the NPCs. Neyla tagged along, and we quickly realized how long it'd been since we'd been in a promyvion zone for that quest. The last time I'd gone, you still needed level-capped gear, so I was amused to be running around in my Beastmaster AF.

I almost ran by the Rendezvous Point without clicking on it, which would've made the short walk through all the monsters a complete waste of time. Still, we got the pearls and returned to Windurst.

Neyla went down into the canal to see if the Oni Carcass was around, so I joined him to help kill it when he saw it on Widescan. It's very easy to kill as a duo, since you're basically just throwing wave after wave of pugils at it. With two Beastmasters, it never even leaves its spawn point.
