Rusty, Dusty Dragoon

I
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
It's been too long since I played this job.
hauled out my Dragoon gear yesterday and decided to give the job a little attention, and I went back for another round today. It's a little disquieting when both of my party invites came about thirty seconds after flagging up; when people complain about the reduced number of players these days, I can't help but smile because it means less competition for party slots.

Both parties were in the sac room of the Crawler's Nest. Monday's romp included a 72+ Red Mage powerleveling us. We had a Bard as puller, and she brought back a really bad link at one point. We had three crawlers attacking, and the Bard used Horde Lullaby to get everything under control. It hit the lizards, and of course they linked.

The Red Mage pulled 'em off and died. I had to laugh at that. If Neyla had been online, he probably would've made a trip to the nest just so he could point at him and shout "Gimp!" because there's no way a Red Mage should die to something like that... except that it later turned out the Bard was controlling that character as well and probably didn't know how to play it.

I couldn't really throw stones at that particular glass house, because it'd been so long since I played Dragoon that I was rusty as hell. I was fighting for about ten minutes before I remembered to call my wyvern, if you can believe that. It also took me awhile to remember I had Jump attacks. /sigh

Today's
Final Fantasy XI - Dragoon
Does this subligar make my ass look fat?
party wasn't bad, but I was annoyed with my duty as first voker to set up SATA. The Thief took his sweet time getting in position or would SATA me at a bad moment. I used High Jump to shed hate when I could, but the recast is three minutes and not nearly enough to survive some of it. One SATA fastened the crawler on me and kept him there, which of course meant my death.

I think I'll push on until I get Dragoon to 40 and then begin the final run at getting to 75 on Monk. I just need this little distraction before I wade in.

Beat 'em Up

Other
Final Fantasy XI - Limbus
One of our easier battles against the beastmen kings.
than popping on Friday for a few minutes to farm my Florid Stone for the ENM, I hadn't touched the game until today's Limbus run. We farmed the last floor we needed for a Proto-Ultima pop set, taking down the smaller beastmen before fighting the three big ones in the center. I think it was probably one of the easiest times we've had there. Astral Flow managed to knocked down a few people, but we didn't wipe or have to wait for a long recovery to finish them off.

The "Test Your Mite" ENM went well, with Crookedmidget and Nanunanoo filling in some empty slots for us. Instead of changing over to Beastmaster for the escort mission, I stayed on Monk. The last time I went in the necropolis that way, I had downtime from healing myself and resting. It was a very different experience with Neyla patching me up on Bard. To say we blazed our way through the zone would be a huge understatement, and I'll be going as Monk from now on.
