This is Bullshit

Final Fantasy XI - Wings of the Goddess

I've been staring at this screen for three hours now, clicking Retry and trying to register the expansion. Neyla and I went to the mall after work and got our copies. His installation was effortless, and he's running around in the game as I type this.

After roughly two weeks out of the game -- one for my vacation and most of this week for holiday-related stuff -- I was looking forward to getting back in and having some fun. /sigh

If they're so big on time travel for this game, you think they could've seen the problems and set up extra servers to handle the load.

I

I spent some time watching over Neyla's PLD in Batallia Downs.
finally gave up in disgust and logged into the game without registering the expansion. Neyla had been waiting for me to join him for some exploration of the new areas and was soloing stuff on Paladin. I rode out to Batallia Downs to keep him patched up while he killed Evil Weapons and goblins down near the spine. He dinged 38 before heading back to town to change to Beastmaster.

Neyla tracked down the Cavernous Maw and started poking around in the past, giving me updates and what he was seeing while I headed for Pso'xja to get a Florid Stone. The past zones sound like fun. It'd be great if I could actually see some of them.

Wings of the Goddess Update

We
Final Fantasy XI - Paladin
Gigas have weapons and better animations now.
had the pre-expansion update today, and I'm pleased with a lot of the little nips and tucks they've given us.

My favorite so far is the elimination of the rent-a-rooms. That's something that's always annoyed the hell out of me. I never understood why I should have to talk to an NPC every time I wanted to enter a foreign room, and I'd get extra annoyed when I forgot to register again upon returning to Windurst. This is a very welcome change, right up there with when they fixed it so you didn't lose Reraise when you warped or teleported.

White Mages now have a light-based sleep spell called "Repose," which I found out was being sold at a magic store in Bastok. I'd never been in there before, but I bought my scroll and used it before buying a second one for Neyla.

I didn't do much today other than buying the scrolls. I hit Qufim for a bit to watch Neyla fight gigas, now that they're armed and have better fight animations. Very cool. Now, I just have to wait for the expansion to get here.
