Vouivre

Vouivre mocks my dead body.

Dagry, Zoner, Veresko, Nanunanoo, Razzo, Otak and I went to Ifrit's Cauldron to find a Wyvern Skull for Otak's Opo-Opo Crown quest. We were competing against another group for wyvern pulls, and we had a fun surprise when Vouivre spawned near camp.

Vouivire is a High-Level Notorious Monster (HNM). As HNM's go, Vouivre is the big double-stuff Oreo of sweetness. She doesn't aggro. She doesn't link with the other wyverns in the area. You can walk right up to her and inspect her teeth without worrying she'll bite your head off. She just wanders around until someone attacks her.

Which is what the other party did.

We asked them if they wanted help, so we created an alliance and started whaling on the wyrm. It was a long fight, a slow battle compounded by bombs wandering into our camp and attacking us. I was the second or third to die on the way to a total alliance wipeout. We might've been okay, but one of the bombs blew up and killed everyone still standing except Zoner. He survived the blast, but he was quickly finished off by Vouivre.

To my horror, I found out Vouivre's nasty AoE (area of attack) Dispel had knocked off my Reraise without my noticing. Otak's was intact, and we began the slow process of raising everyone once I was raised and on my feet. I really need to level to 60 this week so I can use Reraise II.

We killed more wyverns with our full alliance and waited for the other party's backup to arrive. At one point we ran up to Vouivre and posed in front of her for an alliance photo. We got the three wyvern skulls we needed before going after Vouivre again. I was not very eager to do this, but we kicked her scaly ass and had our revenge. I got nice Wyvern Skin to sell in Sandy for 40k.

It was a fun adventure. Going after Dark Spark and getting my Healer's Mitts was sorta anti-climactic after that. We had spent nearly four hours hunting coffer keys in Bedeaux the other night, and I tracked down the coffer this morning. Dagry, Zoner, Uliwela and I went to Xarcabard to kill Dark Spark and then killed it a second time to help another WHM who needed the fight.

Other than today's big adventure, it's been a quiet week. I've mostly been fishing (got my skill to 50 and cleared the 3,000 moat carp mark) and working on guild points to earn my Fishing Waders. I had to travel to Oldton Movalpolos for blindfish the other day, and enlisted Neyla's aid in gettting an Oldton Chest Key to drop so I could get a map of the place. I could solo the mobs that drop the keys, but it took about six fucking years.
