Serious Competition

For
Final Fantasy XI - Proto-Omega
Proto-Omega clanks around the arena.
the first time in over two years, the game has serious competition for my attention. I haven't been on much lately because mostly I'm working my way through Bully (a birthday gift from Neyla), Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy XII. I've been seeking on Monk and logging on enough to handle essentials like guild points and taking care of Paprika, but my heart isn't there at the moment.

But stuff is happening. Big Kahunas took down Proto-Omega on Sunday, which was a relief after the loss we'd suffered before. He dropped two tails, which gives the Homam feet. One of our Black Mages got a little overzealous on the Warp II action and sent one of the intended footware recipients back to his homepoint before the stuff dropped into his inventory. Ouch. Kougaji gets first pick on whatever Homam piece drops next time.

I had to farm a Florid Stone for the "Test Your Mite Sunday" static, so I wandered out to the glacier. I always go to Nue's tower, since there are two Diremites near the entrance I can kill easily on White Mage and plenty of things below I can kill when I'm on Beastmaster.

Nue was walking about unclaimed.

"He's just standing there," I said to the linkshell.

"Less talking and more killing, "Apu advised.

"Yeah," Quieren said. "Then you can be 0/15 on him."

No Nue Fang for me. I really hate that tiger. Hate him... hate him... hate him...

of the ENM static, we suffered our first defeat to the hated Pasuk. Mikeman dropped out to focus on school and other activities, and Apu will be joining us as a permanent sixth member. It was short notice for Apu to run with us, so we tried it with five -- it's not like you lose anything if you die -- and it didn't go well.

We swapped some jobs around. I went on Monk, Neyla went Red Mage, and Hadafal was a Warrior. Wulfgar tanked it, but somehow Hada got hate and that sucker was not going to stop hitting him until he was dead. Even with Wulfgar's +enmity merits and me Provoking and Boosting to draw its attention away, it was determined. Neyla went off to Convert, but Pasuk followed him and ground him to powder while he was weakened. I popped off Hundred Fists, but it was too late.

I was pleased with the Boreas Cesti, though. They added to the damage. I'm going to use my Impact Knuckles next time and compare.

Beyond the Sunday adventures, the only real time I've spent in the game was Monday night's Dyanamis.

We tackled Windurst, where I'd hoped to add a Monster Helm to my collection. That didn't happen, but we got a few Warrior Masks, two Paladin pieces and a Black Mage item. I only died one time the entire night. The linkshell conversation somehow drifted onto the topic of gays in the military, which set me and Celvantes on opposite sides of the issue while I was keeping him alive. It wasn't a tense debate by any means, although it made a few people uncomfortable.

constant joking and conversation is one thing I seriously enjoy about lolDynamis, despite some of my recent posts make it sound like a soul-crushing group to be in. Where else can I find the crazy pull macros and a chance to hear the entire Pokemon theme song?

"THIS Vanguard Assassin IS A CUM GUZZLING ANAL RAMMING FUCKTARD!" was Ajs targeting macro, which eventually led me to ask how much semen was required for guzzling.

"Enough to gargle with?" Taurothar suggested.

He may be right.
