Campaign Promises

I
Final Fantasy XI - Campaign
I spent a lot of time in Meriphataud Mountains [S].
decided to focus on Campaign stuff today for another promotion. I logged on an hour or so before Neyla and geared up Monk to start doing some fights. He eventually joined me, and we spent a few hours moving between Meriphataud Mountains and Jugner Forest. There were a few side-trips to West Sarutabaruta, but mostly just those zones.

I'd been reading up on Campaign's promotion requirements, and it seems to be based on the number of Allied Notes you earn from battle. 5,000 seems to be the magic number. I also wanted to finish off a third merit so I could upgrade my kick attacks.

There were a few deaths, but not as many because I was /NIN for it and didn't take as much damage unless it was one of those AoE-spamming bastard NMs. Neyla taught me a few more things to watch for, and we generally had a blast. We even took down one of the lesser orcs by ourselves at one point.

I eventually reached my goal and sought an evaluation, earning the Allied Ribbon of Bravery. It's slow, but it's a start.

been eager to level Paladin again, but there's some gear he wanted. It was pretty short work for me, Neyla and Shmedly to go into Oldton Movalpolis to get a Parade Gorget, but today was a little more labor intensive. We had to travel down into the aquaducts for a panty raid on the fomors.

Neyla went White Mage. I was Beastmaster. Shmedly came as Warrior, with Tiael as Dragoon and Crookedmidget as Ninja. Since Shmedly has been busting out levels on Beastmaster like crazy, we wanted to get a subligar from the Fomor Beastmaster for his Gaudy Harness.

We found the platform where it pops, and I pulled with a Crab Familiar. We had nothing better to do between spawns, so we killed some of the others. There was a Dragoon, but I didn't bother with it because I'm just not that wild about that piece of JSE. We finally got the subligar we needed and went in search of the Fomor Paladin.

Getting past the taurus mobs was always fun since they're True Sight and can't be evaded by a simple Invisibility spell. They have no peripheral vision, so you can just run behind them. We eventually got to the fomor paladin, which was sharing space with a Fomor Bard and a few Stegotaurs and a taurus NM named Mahisha.

left Mahisha alone and focused on the fomors. Tiael had to take off after awhile, and Crookedmidget was also getting low on time. We were only going to do one more pop, and thankfully it's the one who decided to give up the goods. Crookedmidget died at the end of the fight, but we got the Pisces subligar.

I lingered in Windurst in case I had gear Neyla or Shmedly would need to wear for Brigid's quest. Shmedly got his Gaudy Harness, but Wool Hose were not on the Auction House. Luckily, Shmedly's a high-level cloth crafter and could make it for Neyla. I waited in Windurst to see Neyla clanking around in her fancy yellow armor.

Not a bad day, really. I finished off a second merit and got about 3k into a third while we were down there. I just have to figure out where I want to put them.

Paladin Paragon

We
Final Fantasy XI - Beastmasters
Crookedmidget and I take down Three-Eyed Prozpuz.
finished off Neyla's Paladin armor today. Most of it was basic coffer pops and running around like a maniac for quests. He had to divide part of the body quest to before and after the Necropolis escort and ENM.

The orc fight in Davoi was easier than I expected, since it turned out Neyla didn't have to be Paladin for it. Crookedmidget offered to help, so the three of us went there on Beastmasters. I arrived first and was about to zone in from Jugner when I spotted an NN named Meteormauler Zhagtegg. I fought him and did okay until he started Hundred Fisting me and linking up with some of the surrounding orc. It wouldn't have been a contest at all if I'd been using a jug pet, but I finished him off with 250hp. He didn't drop anything.

Neyla and Crook caught up and we headed for the village well, cleared out the orcs, and popped the two NMs. Crook and I focused on the Ranger while Neyla kept the Paladin busy. It wasn't a bad fight -- Snarl is an awesome ability -- and helped beat down Neyla's prey.

He's now a Paragon of Paladin Excellence.
