Deadly Dodo: The Hunt Begins!

Fresh from my victory over Nue, I went out to Sauromugue Champaign to camp Deadly Dodo for his skin. It's the final item I need for the Brown Belt quest.

I

I needed a new NM to curse.
had competition from a MNK/THF shortly after I arrived, but he couldn't really compete with a Beastmaster using Widescan. He finally bugged out after about fifteen minutes of watching me kill Tabar Beaks with my funguar.

I didn't run around killing nearly as many monsters as I did the last time I camped Dodo. A little research goes a long way, and I found out how to know exactly which two cocks are the placeholders for the NM by their placement on the widescan listing. It works the same for tracking down Leaping Lizzie's placeholders.

I was there nearly an hour before Dodo popped. I carved him into nuggets and of course did not get the skin. I predict many fruitless hours of hunting this prick, but I'll wait until after Monday's update so my funguars last about 90 minutes. I hope Dodo doesn't annoy me like Nue did.

Nue Defanged

I decided to take a little break from Bioshock and trudged into Vana'diel. I didn't really have anything planned. It just seemed like a good time to pop on and see what Neyla was up to and maybe catch a Besieged if one was brewing. I made the right decision.

Put out, you feline bastard!
didn't have anything to do, so I decided to get my Florid Stone a day early. Nue was up and walking around his tower when I got there, and there wasn't another player in sight. I could hardly believe my luck. I used Charm to claim-bind him and waded in with my axe. I chopped him down and couldn't believe it... he finally dropped a Nue Fang. To say I was ecstatic would be an understatement, since I've camped and killed that bastard at least twenty times.

I already have the vine from the Contaminated Colosseum runs we did ages ago. Now I just need Deadly Dodo to drop. I'll probably camp him tomorrow.

In other news, Neyla has been seriously contemplating leveling White Mage. I feel some small amusement at that, considering how much he bitched about hating the job. He's been taking up so much slack for bad White Mages that he figures he could ace it if he had access to their spells, and I tend to agree. He was actually on WHM when I was running out to Nue's tower, but he wasn't seeking. I think he's still getting psyched up for it.

I ATE'NT DEAD*

I'm still around, but I haven't logged a lot of time lately. I've been pulled from the game by stints with Final Fantasy VI and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. They've kept me busy, so I've mostly been logging on for short bits to restock my mules or for Limbus, ENMs and the like. I haven't been on this week because I'm on vacation.

Too much sitting, not enough killing.
few noteworthy things from my hiatus did occur, though. My attempt to get Dragoon to 40 was blocked by a completely inept party leader. His big idea was to build a group without a healer so we could rely on his RDM friend to powerlevel us. It could've worked, but the RDM lost her connection before we could kill anything. We sat around on our hands for thirty minutes or so before we disbanded. I got a second party, but we split up before I could ding 39. I'll have to get back into that soon.

On a more positive note, my Monk is now 74. The ENM and escort last weekend nearly dinged him, so I went into the necropolis and punched some skeletons until I got it. I plan to start leveling it in earnest next week... or at least, I plan to seek. We'll see how it goes.

I also upgraded my Beast Gloves to the +1 version. I'm toying with upgrading the body and head pieces; I'd be tempted to stave off my retirement from Limbus for that. Hell, it's already dragged on nearly a month longer than I'd originally planned. We'll see how I feel when I'm back to full strength.
